Keyesian flakeonomics

IS THERE ANYONE WHO DOESN’T have a finger in this pie? This half-baked Hitler-Darwin concoction, that is. First it was Harun Yahya, now Coral Ridge Ministries is following in the footsteps of their apparent ideological soulmates, with their own production of…well, exactly the same thing. Okay, maybe it’s not so obvious with that short blurb, but bear with us.

We’ve avoided inflicting this on you for as long as possible, but despite their usual this-story-was originally-written-in-crayon style, World Net Daily has the inside dope on the secrets of Coral Ridge. No, not the secret behind Jan Crouch’s bouffant cotton-candy head style — “hair” isn’t exactly accurate — but rather the inside dope on the upcoming not-very-exclusive look at Darwin’s responsibility for everything bad that’s happened in the last 150 years. Feel the inside dopiness wash over you:

Charles Darwin should share with Hitler the blame for the 11 million or more lives lost in the Holocaust, a new television special explains. And, the program says, the more than 45 million American lives lost to abortion also can be blamed on that famous founder of evolutionary theory.

“This show basically is about the social effects of Darwinism, and shows this idea, which is scientifically bankrupt, has probably been responsible for more bloodshed than anything else in the history of humanity,” Jerry Newcomb, one of two co-producers, told WorldNetDaily.

Well, whatever. We’d comment, but frankly we’re too busy preparing our condemnation of Newton for enabling all those people who’ve murdered by defenestration. Damn the man, and his infernal universal gravitation anyway.

In any case, the common brain shared between Harun Yahya and Coral Ridge is fascinating enough on its own, but now we have a new claimant on this rather tattered and worn organ. Watch out world — the Keyes Kops are on the beat. Watch as Renew America, errr…renews its (American?) objection to the Darwin-Hitler Axis of Mayhem. Or something:

The eugenics movement and the Bolshevist Revolution are only two examples. The evils of all the wars of the Dark Ages were only dwarfed by the deaths resulting directly from the dogma of the various proponents of Darwinism in the 20th century. Ironically, I found a Wisconsin license plate made in 1917 that outlasted Russian Communism and its attempt to wipe out the Bible and religion and to engineer a secular “New Soviet Man.”

Okay, so the author didn’t actually mention Hitler, but he undoubtedly meant to tie it all together with some new thoughts, except that there was this old column lying around, and we’re talking about deadlines here, dammit. Anyway, why compose new thoughts when the same tired old ones will do just fine? The important thing is that the Keyesians have announced their kinship with Harun Yahya too, by promoting WND and Coral Ridge, as well as their intent to defend this particular hill against any dangerous-looking windmill that might wander by.

And you probably thought the America Renewers were a bit busy these days, what with awkward questions being directed towards the Renewer-in-Chief about how the Minutemen’s finances work, exactly. Or don’t work, as the case may be. We assume for the moment that everything is on the level, but if not, they certainly seem to have a ready-made excuse. Darwin made them do it.

  1. Great news - Francis Collins, who was originally affliated with this, just removed himself from this ahistorical bile. As it turns out, he was agreeing to an interview about his book and he had no idea that they would literally quote-mine him for this. Luckily, he was informed by a reader of the Panda’s Thumb. I certainly hope he sues those frauds.

  2. “our condemnation of Newton for enabling all those people who’ve murdered by defenestration”

You mean, folks who’ve thrown out windows for Linux?

Not to be compared with the anti-science creationist Luddites, who throw the baby out with the bathwater.

  3. This is exceptionally well-written. It approaches PJO’R’s high standards of acid-laced factual criticism.
